Hard Journalism: Reporting Crisis, Staying Secure & Tackling Data
On Tuesday 24 November 2015, the eighth edition of the News Impact Summit (NIS Stockholm) will be held at 7A Odenplan in Stockholm, Sweden. The theme “Hard journalism: Reporting Crisis, Staying Secure & Tackling Data” will see a focus on the way data and information can be used to tell better stories, provide audiences with the content they want and showcase innovation in the way we tell the most important complex stories.
Organised by the European Journalism Centre (EJC) and Google News Lab, this one full-day public event brings leading journalists and media experts from diverse backgrounds together.
Speakers and delegates will be attending from Swedish journalism and media organisations as well as global ones. Participants will have an opportunity to join the debate with the experts. Through panel discussions and practical workshops you will both learn how to use new tools in your daily work and develop broader strategies for innovation in your respective newsrooms.
Some of the topics we will be covering are:
- How to cover refugee crises (and other sensitive, complex issues) with data/infographics, periscope and other new digital tools?
- How can we digitally secure our journalistic work and our sources?
- How should we measure the "impact" by using data and analytics?
- What are the new tools developed by the Swedish startups that media can benefit from for better workflow & content management and publishing?
