Biography
Jochen Spangenberg works for Germany's international broadcaster Deutsche Welle in the research and cooperation projects unit. Apart from overall coordination, this includes participation in REVEAL and InVID, two EU co-funded research projects that deal with algorithm-supported verification of eyewitness media and user-generated content. He is furthermore involved in the development of Truly Media, a platform for collaborative verification of user-generated content.
Jochen also lectures at the Free University Berlin in Media & Communication Sciences. He is the author of the book The BBC in Transition and a number of articles, papers and book chapters.
Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Editor-in-Chief at a Berlin-based new media company, and worked for BBC News & Current Affairs in radio and TV.
